This year’s training, held at the MC-Bauchemie Ghana Training Centre from November 26 to 28, 2024, focused on the use of concrete cosmetics to achieve top-tier concrete finishes. With 62 participants coming from Ghana and neighboring Togo, the training covered topics such as exposed concrete cosmetics, fair-faced concrete, substrate fundamentals, and practical techniques for retouching and surface protection.

Three Days of Theory and Hands-On Mastery

Day One kicked off with an inspiring welcome by Mr. Noble Bediako, who emphasized the vital role of skilled applicators in Ghana’s fast-growing construction sector. Attendees ranging from decision-makers to engineers and architects then dove into comprehensive theory sessions led by Dr. Ing. Jana Schutten.

The following two days were all about getting the ‘hands dirty’.  Under the expert supervision of Mr. Uwe Strauch, Dr. Schutten and the MC-Ghana IN Technical Support team, participants engaged in practical sessions that took them through each stage of the concrete cosmetics process. From substrate preparation to applying bonding agents, coarse and fine fillers, and finally, retouching products, no detail was left untouched.

A standout moment? Participants getting hands-on experience with the Nafuquick and Emcefix product lines. These innovative solutions tackle common concrete woes—think chips, pores, and color inconsistencies—giving participants the confidence to achieve flawless, fair-faced finishes.

Commitment to Excellence and Innovation

This initiative underscores MC-Bauchemie Ghana’s dedication to raising industry standards. By blending specialized knowledge with practical skills, the program empowers applicators to meet, and even exceed, global quality benchmarks.

As Ghana’s infrastructure continues to expand, the demand for highly skilled applicators will only grow. This advanced training series is a pivotal step in closing the skills gap and ensuring Ghana’s construction industry leads in quality and innovation.
